Panagiotis Nomikos

Dr. Panayiotis Nomikos is a Neurosurgeon with extensive training and specialisation as well as clinical, surgical and academic experience in all aspects of Neurosurgery.

He is a graduate of the Medical School of Erlangen-Nuernberg (Germany). He has been trained in Neurosurgery and obtained his PhD degree at the same University. He has since worked as a Clinical Lecturer in Neurosurgery at the Universities of Erlangen-Nuernberg and Goettingen and has been the Director of the department of Spinal Surgery at the Erlangen-Nuernberg University Hospital.

He has broad clinical and operative experience in all areas of surgery and micro-surgery of the spine including treatment of disorders of the cervical spine, degenerative conditions and tumours of the spinal cord and nerve roots.

He is a member of the German Neurosurgical Association, the German Endocrinology Society, the German and European Neuroendocrinology Associations, the Pituitary Society, the Leksell Gamma Knife Society and the Hellenic Neurosurgical and Endocrinology Societies.

He is a specialist in Spinal Surgery as well as in Surgery of the pituitary, neuro-endoscopic Surgery, Surgery of the base of the skull and surgical treatment of epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Nomikos is the author of a large number of  scientific articles in medical journals including Journal of Neurosurgery, Acta Neurochirurgica, Neurosurgery, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Advances in Neurosurgery, Pituitary, Endocrine Pathology, Spine, Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, Journal of Neuro-Οncology and Anticancer Research. He has also contributed chapters to major medical textbooks such as Pituitary Adenomas: From basic Research to Diagnosis and Therapy (Elsevier Science), Non-functioning pituitary adenomas (Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins), Management options in the treatment of invasive pituitary adenomas (Lippincott-Raven), Pituitary tumors (Churchill Livingstone), Non-adenomatous Sellar and Suprasellar Lesions. He is a founding member and member of the Scientific Committee of the Back Care network for spinal disorders (Athens, Greece). He is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at ‘Hygeia’ Hospital, Athens, Greece.
